Since 2005, Offkey Music have led the way in defining, what was then, a new sub genre of Drum & Bass. Their trademarksound drew upon the musical history and philosophy of label head honcho Raiden, in that a number of key elements from the soundsof Detroit and minimal techno were to be fused with the traditional core elements of breaks and bass. A journey of creativeexploration and development followed and with the assistance oftalented like minded souls such as Khanage, The Sect,Propaganda, Audio & Proket, Offkey Music firmly cemented itself a position as innovators of note within the scene. Thirteen EPs andone critically acclaimed album later, the time had come for Raiden to take a step back from the music and review what his label hadachieved, but even more importantly, what it may achieve in the future. The Techno / Drum & Bass hybrid developed some yearsbefore had acted as a calling card to many other producers, each with their own take on how this sound should develop. Whilstrecognising the creative abilities of those trying to further the sub genre, the sound for which Offkey had become synonymous was nolonger the sound of its creator. The time had come to reinvent the content
And so, OK14 is a landmark release. Its tracks symbolise the new direction in whichRaiden and his Offkey recording artists will hone their skills. Once again the sounds are innovative, fresh and exciting
Everythingyou would want, only with the twist few expected. Forget any preconceptions; THIS is the sound of Offkey! THIS is the sound ofRaiden!Track A Hubble: Getting heavy rotation on the club circuit, many will have gone mad to it, few realise who is responsible for it. Ifever a track epitomised the raw elements of cutting edge Drum & Bass music, this is it. A proper nasty piece of beat work filled withtwisted self-oscillating bass sorcery that is simply laying dance floors to wreckage. This track has gained massive support from thelikes of Andy C, Ed Rush, Dieselboy and of course the OK recordings crew
Track AA M82: Fresh out of the studio and totally uncompromising, Raiden delivers this new take on the old B Boy roller. Spacedout ethereal pads swirl around a crisp multi layered tribal drum workout. The whole thing relentlessly builds toward an all out bassheavy assault on the senses. Factor in some delicious edits with slicker than slick production throughout and its a must have forany discerning Drum & Bass lover. This release is also recieving massive support from the likes of Doc Scott, Alix Perez and Spirit. So, the forums are full of it
