Electrosoul System kicked our new imprint off in fine style, receiving critical acclaim (4.5/5 - DJ Magazine) and a strong reception from fans around the world. We now proudly bring you the second instalment. Again we leave the UK and find an incredible production trio making a real mark in the international scene. Mutated Forms, three friends hailing from the Estonian cities of Tallin and Tartu,have been working together for the past 3-4 years and over recent months have been beginning to makes some serious waves. With releases on DJ SS’s ‘New Identity’ and ‘World of Drum & Bass labels’ under their belt, and other future releases and remixes for DJ Sappo amongst others, Mutated Forms are quickly rising the ranks. ‘Behind The Scenes’ is a deep atmospheric track powered by a floor shaking sub and gently oscillating bassline. Soothing horn samples and vocal snippets weaving in and out of the mix keep things fresh and swirling strings ensure you are kept entranced by the magic of this track. Support from Grooverider on BBC Radio 1, and Bailey on BBC 1Xtra are proof that this is not one to sleep on. ‘Should I’ has the dancefloor more firmly in its sights and in contrast to the flip is a much lighter track. However don’t let that fool you, there is more here than you may first think - the organ layered bassline gives some real heart and soul to the track, while the filtered breakdown evokes images of calm summer beaches before kicking into Carnival mode. Think DJ Marky, Zinc, Total Science and the likes and you’ll be in the right ball park. Support from Chrissy Chris on BBC 1Xtra and many more mean this is one you’ll be hearing all summer.
