It's ten years since the first Alaska release dropped in 1996 and six years since the last Alaska album in 2000, so it's about time Mr Alaska returned to write another chapter in Drum and Bass history, and my god it's been worth the wait as just when everyone thought this style of Drum and Bass was completely dead, up pops 'Arctic Foundations' out of nowhere to resurrect the 'Golden Era' of the legendary Speed nightclub in '96 for all the 2006 nu-skool music lovers to hear.

The stunning photography artwork is really appreciated on the 8 track/4-plate 12" vinyl format. Each plate has it's own art innersleeve and thought has gone into keeping the vinyl format as safe as houses for the next ten years to come.

Alaska explains the personal ethos behind the album as 'Funk breakbeat patterns from the early 70's through to Bboy Hiphop of the late 80's and Drum and Bass from the mid 90's' as the main criteria and inspiration behind creating Arctic Foundations.

Guest musicians include Kiyomi from Tokyo Japan [whose work with Klute, Calibre and Marcus Intallex is well documented], Rnb Vocalist Andrew Grant from Public Demand and Hiphop MC Rich Beggar.

This is a Album that will never gather dust on the shelf. Too much of today's Drum and Bass doesn't have that shelf-life that can be played for years to come.
