Steppin’ up for his first 12” on Crisis is Hobzee, one of the class of new exclusive signees to the Horizons Music Group, and he makes his presence known amongst his label mates with two tracks that are both dancefloor primed and ready, but also take you into deeper areas of DNB. “Passin’ Me By” is both joy and pain, passion and fury: percussion-heavy beats that provide a sonic bed for a diverse selection of sounds, from the dark, tech-y bassline to the somber keys laced throughout the tune. The flipside maintains that vibe, but brings things just a tad darker: from the up-tempo drums in the intro to the hypnotic sample driving this foller, this track is no nonsense. There is loads of room to breathe in this track, but you are still being hit with a serious sub workout on the beat. If this 12” doesn’t convince you that Hobzee deserves his spot on this roster, you might need to have your head examined.
