Crisis is going on its 5th release, and called on an older head to bring some new school funk. DJ Trax has been in the scene going on 13 years, and has not lost his touch for beautiful drums and lush accompaniment. “Tomorrow’s New Dawn” is no exception. It begins with live-sounding drums and a deep rumble of a bass tone. This is the vocal mix, and those lyrics speak of love and give a sense of hope to the listener. Once this one drops, it becomes a combination of a jazzy bassline, intoxicating drums, and an over all feel of funk. If that’s not dope enough, Commix steps up to provide the remix flavor on the flip. They bring out the Cambridge vibes, digging deep into their bag of tricks for a faster paced, electro rollercoaster. Driving bass kicks bouncing underneath solid keys and the original vocal filtered into a whole new instrument in this medley. Two sides of the same coin, indeed. Make room for this one in your box, it shall not be leaving for a good while.
