Mampi Swift’s most recent signing: S.M.O.K.E is a drum&bass project lead by Italian producers Sygo and Dr. Nuke. It was on hearing ‘Zombie’ for the first time that Mampi Swift knew S.M.O.K.E were a collective that he wanted to work with, he immediately signed the track and asked them to make a B Side – only for them to come with ‘Ray Gun’ which after playing only once, Mampi Swift knew it had to be the A-Side. S.M.O.K.E “Raygun” has eerie vocals that set the scene, deep and dark… which is followed by an almighty wind-up and explosive drums announce the fiery drop. Faultless drum programming is complimented by original sounding rave stabs and manipulated vocals, a great piece of production. Backed with “Zombie”, undoubtedly inspired by numerous horror movies, the sample puts listeners on the edge of their seats only for the drop to pull them from under them. More switches than a lighting store the only thing that remains constant throughout are the evil organs.
